Terms & Conditions

These terms are the rules for using TOVIS, on the web and in the app. By creating an account, you agree to them.

Accounts

You must be 13 or older to create an account. Some features have a higher age limit, such as AI consultations, which are for adults only.

Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep your account secure. You are responsible for everything done with your account.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse

TOVIS does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. Do not post, send or share:

  • harassment, bullying or threats, or anything that encourages violence
  • hateful content, or attacks on people for who they are
  • nudity, pornography, sexual content or sexual solicitation
  • graphic violence or gore
  • scams, fraud or spam
  • content that impersonates someone, or that you don’t have the right to share
  • anything illegal

Treat the people you meet through TOVIS with respect, whether that is in a post, a comment, a review, a message or an appointment.

How content is checked, reported and removed

Before a post, comment, review or profile appears publicly, its public words and photos are checked. If you agreed to it in the app, they are checked automatically using Anthropic’s AI service before they appear. If you did not, nothing is sent to an AI provider: public words are checked on our own servers against a list of words that can’t be used, and photos appear straight away and are looked at by our team afterwards, who can take them down. Personal first and last names entered at signup or in account settings are always checked on our own servers. Words on the list can’t be used; when that check is unsure, the words are saved and looked at by our team. Anything the check finds breaks these rules is refused. When the AI check can’t confirm a post, comment, review or profile is safe, it is not published. A video stays private until someone on our team has watched it.

Looks, comments, messages, conversations and profiles each have a Report option, and you can also contact us through the support page below. Our team is alerted to every report, and we review reports within 24 hours. Looks and comments that break these terms are removed. If someone breaks these terms or abuses other people, we may suspend their account, which signs them out everywhere and stops them signing back in, or delete it.

You can also block a person. Once you do, their Looks and comments no longer appear in your feeds or in comment threads, and yours no longer appear in theirs. Neither of you can message the other: a conversation you already had stays visible to both of you, but no new messages can be sent in it.

You can see and undo your blocks under Blocked accounts: in Settings if you use TOVIS as a client, and in the Account section of your profile if you use it as a professional.

Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, videos and words you post. By posting them, you give TOVIS a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, copy, display and share them within TOVIS, for example in feeds, on your profile, or when we feature a Look, and to check and analyse them as these terms describe. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

Only post what you have the right to share, and only with the permission of anyone else who appears in it.

How we use AI

Some features use artificial intelligence. When you use the AI camera coach, the photo you choose is sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) for analysis after the app tells you. Camera-coach photos are analysed in transit and are not stored for that purpose. When you choose an AI consultation, Anthropic receives the photos and inspiration you add, the service context, the questions you answered, the choices and answer codes you selected, and any explanation or note you wrote. Your answers can include allergies, skin sensitivity, prior reactions or other service-safety information. Your answers to the health questions on a hair consultation (whether something such as new medication, pregnancy or postpartum, recent surgery, or hormone or thyroid changes could affect how your hair behaves, and whether your scalp is sore, itchy, flaky or broken) are never sent to Anthropic: only professionals who can see your consult see them, as a prompt to check with you in person before any chemical service. Where available, a limited structured summary of earlier cosmetic observations, preferences and visit-outcome reports may also be sent. You must accept the separate Photo & analysis consent before analysis. When a professional converts a consent form they upload into an editable form, the whole file (every page of a PDF, or the photo) and its file name are sent to Anthropic, and only after the professional agrees to it in the app for that file. Professionals are asked to upload blank forms, not forms a client has already filled in. Only if a professional agrees to it in the app, the photos in their published hair Looks are sent to Anthropic so consultations started from those Looks can use them.

The automatic check on public words and photos described above uses Anthropic’s AI service, only for people who agreed to it in the app. If you haven’t agreed, your photos go live straight away and our team may review and remove them afterwards.

AI consultations are for adults only. Before one starts, you are asked to confirm that you are 18 or older, and it can’t go ahead without that confirmation.

A consultation gives you styling observations and directions to discuss with your professional. It does not guarantee a result and is not medical advice. Your professional decides what is right for you.

Bookings and payments

TOVIS helps clients find professionals and book appointments. Professionals are independent and are not employed by TOVIS. The service itself, and any agreement about it, is between the client and the professional.

Payment for a service is made between the client and the professional, usually outside TOVIS. If a professional offers card payment in TOVIS, such as a deposit, the card is processed by Stripe. TOVIS does not take payment for bookings. Prices shown are starting prices; agree the final price with your professional.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, on the web or in the app: under Settings if you use TOVIS as a client, and under your profile if you use it as a professional. If you have upcoming appointments, cancel them first.

Your account closes 14 days after you ask. Until then, you can sign in and cancel the deletion. Your account contact details and public profile are removed. Appointment, payment and professional service records are kept for accounting, safety, disputes and service history, and may contain information needed for those purposes.

Transactional SMS consent

TOVIS collects separate consent during signup for transactional SMS messages related to account verification and appointment updates.

TOVIS uses SMS only for transactional messages related to your account and appointments. Messages may include account verification codes, appointment confirmations, appointment reminders, reschedules, and cancellations. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. TOVIS does not send marketing or promotional SMS.

No marketing SMS

TOVIS sends transactional messages only. Marketing or promotional SMS is not part of this product.
